Basement

For the sake of getting started - I will post some pictures of our basement, which was mentioned by a friend as something of interest. First, let me say that we started working on the basement in August of this last year, and it was not complete until January. It was well worth it. We had a friend from Jason's old job that would come over in the evenings and work bit by bit. It looks great.

Jason and I had to pick a color for the walls. We compromised (sort of) on beige. So...it's a very clean, new, and very brown basement! The kids love it, and so do I.

The stairs going up to the left and looking into the bedroom at the bottom of the stairs. It's pretty empty still, but with a futon. We'll eventually move the queen in the guest room down there for extra space for guests.

The door you're seeing on the left is the back side of the stairs. Yes, it's a disaster, but these pictures are from a month ago or so when we hadn't really organized yet. I'm not saying it's clean now, but it's better!

On of my favorite parts of the basement is the little room under the stairs as you can see. It is small, but we put an outlet in there so that we can add a bookshelf, a lamp, and little bean bags and make it into a little reading room. As of yet, it's just holding more toys. But, as you can tell, we move slowly around this house!

And now for the best part of the basement...room to play! The kids do great down there. They have the whole place to themselves. There is a corner of the basement with sofas now that we will eventually rearrange to make more of an adult area with a TV. But for now...everything down there is kid friendly and I do not have to worry about them hurting themselves on anything. They go down there while I am cooking dinner a lot. Allison will say - "Hey Andrew, do you want to go play in the basement?" So great!!

Well, the pictures may not do it justice, but you get the general idea. Big basement with new carpet and explosion of toys. We'll mark one off the list. Let me know what you would like next!
