Diabetic diet

I had an OB appointment today and have gained 6 lbs in the last month and had some glucose in my urine. Now, I had just had a bowl of cereal about an hour before my appointment, but still. I also am measuring a bit big. My OB was not worried at all. You can measure plus or minus 2 from your actual week and I'm only measuring 2 weeks ahead, but after putting it all together, I'm not happy. I have decided to put myself back on the diet!! I won't be as strict as before. I plan on still eating fruit, but everything else...gone. It's really not a weight issue. If I put it on, I'll take it off. But, it just makes sense for me to be healthier. So, I dropped a lot of money on some groceries today...let the games begin. I talked to Jason already today, and he's in. He's going to eat what I eat. It will be good for both of us.

So, as for Allie! She's been great lately, but woke up with a fever this morning for some unknown reason. Her ears actually look pretty good, so I don't think it's that. But, I gave her some Ibuprofen and she perked up. She went with me to the OB appointment today. She was a little freaked out when they needed to look at my belly. I think she thought they might hurt me. But, ever since then she keeps asking me if she can check the baby. It's pretty cute. Here's a few pics.
Allie is really into role playing lately. She wants to put her animals to bed with her blankies and cook food for them. She wants diapers on them and talks to them like an adult to a child. The other day (after a particularly spanking-filled afternoon) I heard her pick up this bear (above) and say "no no bear, I said no no. You are not listening. You get a spanking." Then she proceeded to swat his butt. After a few minutes I hear her say, "are you crying bear? You need a hug? It's ok bear, it's ok." Now I don't do much comforting after a spanking until the crying has resolved, otherwise I feel like you miss the point a bit (and I really don't spank that much by the way), but I know that she is modeling the comforting that I do with her and it was just so cute. We talked about what the bear did wrong (I'm still not sure what it was) and that if you don't listen to mommy you get a spanking...so it was actually a very good reinforcement for her. So cute!!
She's also big into stickers right now. We get one every time we go to Wal-mart or the doctor (which has been a lot lately). Jason brilliantly promised her a sticker when we got home from something the other day and I didn't have any. So, I gave her a sheet of the Hallmark gold crown stickers and she proceeded to put them all over herself. We then threw on her Mardi gras beads and headed to Costco. Let them stare!! (I still don't know why this underlines sometimes).

Here is Allie setting up her bears to feed them the other day. She's so funny!!

Anyway, have a great day everyone!!

Val, what you see coming out of Allie is what you've been putting in. Great!!! It's such a blessing to see the blessings of the fathers being displayed in the children and children's children. Thanks for sharing. Love it, love it.

Oh, and I know the diet will be worth it. Builds character don't you think?
