We spent the week around Christmas with Jason's family. His mom, dad, brother and uncle all came and stayed at the house for a week. We had some good food and good time relaxing. Allie loved having all the attention. It's amazing how much one child can dominate a room! We had a good time opening gifts. We all agreed that Allie made out like a bandit!
After working the weekend, we headed to my family's house over New Years. We spent four days with my family hanging out on the farm. It was great to let the cousin's play and I truly enjoyed my time with Kara and her boyfriend Matt (he seems like a great addition!) and Ben and Leah who are expecting baby number three in August. Unfortunately, Thursday night I got sick and spent some time in front of the toilet...great! I woke Friday morning feeling fine, but by evening felt nauseous again. Saturday was bad all day, Sunday morning was fine, but the evenings continued to plague me. Monday I had a doctor's appointment and she put me on some Zantac to control the heart burn which she attributes to the cause of the nausea. It seems to have worked as I felt ok last night and feel totally fine tonight. Time will tell.
I always knew this pregnancy was a little bit different, and it was confirmed on Monday that we are having a little boy! We are genuinely excited. I think I secretly wanted a boy, but know that I would have been happy with whatever God gave us. Jason swears he didn't care either way. Now we just need to agree on name. This will definitely be harder than it was with Allie. We honestly have no idea what to name this little boy!!
School starts next week. I will only have class 5 times this semester, but there are a lot of uncertainties about when my clinicals will be and how my time management will look. I know I have a big paper to write and have to study for boards, but I'm hoping for an easier semester. People keep asking me what I'm going to do when I graduate, and I'm really not sure. I am fairly confident that I will stick to primary care, but I don't know where that will be. At least I know I can always fall back on the PICU if I can't find a job!
Jason's job is going well. Allie is growing and learning and surprising me everyday. Today she told Jason that she didn't need a bath because "I had a bath yesterday!" What?? Since when did she know what 'yesterday' meant, and did she realize we had switched her to baths every other day? Or did she just say that as a statement? We plan on transitioning her to the 'big girl bed' sometime next week. I'm a little nervous, but she always seems excited about laying in the bed and reading books...now if we can just keep her there!
Well, that about sums it up. I will post some pics next. Hope you all enjoyed your holidays. I apologize for my lack of posting lately, but it seems that I just don't have a lot of extra energy!!

Big girl bed? You are much braver than I. Jonathan will be in his crib until next summer unless he crawls out before then. Hope it goes well. Congrats on the baby boy!
I'm glad to be getting caught up with what's been going on with you! I've missed you! And I'm not even in Australia this year.
HOW did I miss that you're having a little boy??? Congratulations!
