A good day

So I actually got to stay home today and we hung out as a family. That unfortunately doesn't get to happen as often as I would like. So, this afternoon we went outside and Jason raked some leaves and Allie and I played in the leaves and with the dog next door.
And yes, Allison is standing on her own here. She can't get to a standing position, but if I stand her up, she will stay there.
We put her in the middle of the leaves and she was not really amused. I think it bothered her a little bit. She tolerated it, but started fussing.

She was actually quite crabby this afternoon. She's getting over a cold so her nose is so runny and she's coughing quite a bit still. Plus, I can see her two top teeth almost through. So maybe she'll actually get more than just two!

What Allison is doing now:
1. She says "all done" after she's done with a bottle or eating
2. She says "yeah" or "yesh" in response to things. Sometimes I'm not sure if she understands, but she definitely knows what she wants.
3. She shakes her head "no" when she doesn't want something. This is fine until we're feeding her and she doesn't want any more food.
4. She can free stand but still isn't taking any steps
5. She can point to eyes and say "eyes" and can point to nose when we ask (but she doesn't say "nose")
6. We're working on animals. She has an animal puzzle and can usually pick out the kitty and dog
7. She puts the pieces into her fridge farm (a magnetic musical puzzle for the fridge).
8. She says "shoes" when we put her shoes on her, and I think she's saying "socks" but I'm not sure.

I've been telling myself that the reason she isn't walking is that she's spending so much time on verbal. So, words we say are, mama (and just mom), dada (dad), shoes, socks, eyes, all done, yes (yeah/yesh). She is growing up so much and Jason and I are so lucky to be her parents.

Jason leaves again tomorrow for a week. I have to work, so his brother is coming over in the evening to watch Allison until I get home. I'm going to the farm for a few days this time so it won't be as hard having him gone...and it's only a week. Plus, I'm not going to be working on the house at all, and I've passed my CCRN exam (a certification for work) so I can relax a little. This will be the last time Jason has to leave until February, so it will be good to get it over with. We are watching the KU/OSU game right now. So far, so good!

Love the Alli buried in leaf picture. I remember the years when Mike was traveling all the time. It's rough. I'm glad you're going home for a bit...That does help.

I remember that it seemed like every time he left there were tornado warnings...(Omaha!)Going to Elmdale or Winchester was Great!

I love the pic of Allison and the neighbors dog. Wonder what she was thinking? And Val, even though she isn't walking yet, she is still very advanced for her age. She really does quite a bit. Hopefully see you Tues.

Oh, and I've heard that it's kind of common that a child who is advanced with the physical things like walking, etc., commonly will not be as advanced with the talking, etc. It's kind of a balance. I don't know if that's been researched or not but it made sense to me. (Walking early is very over-rated.)
