So, interesting times around the Froelich household. Long story short...Jason was asked to apply for a job at a company that was closer to home. He wasn't looking for a job, but it came to him and he interviewed. A few weeks and 3 interviews later...they offered him the job. It was a decent job with competitive pay and was closer to home, but they only offered 5 days of vacation and Jason was not eligible for any of the profit sharing or 401K matching until 2010. While we were debating whether or not to take it, he got another interesting offer. There is a couple we go to church with who own a small business. Whitney's dad, John is the VP of operations for this business that has done very well for itself given that it only has 26 employees. John had asked to meet with Jason back in May but we were headed to Hawaii and when we returned life was a little hectic. So, it wasn't until Sunday that they actually got to talk. Turns out, this company has been praying for an opportunity to hire Jason since early June. They even had our pastor praying about it. We had all but blown them off early on...not because we didn't respect them, but because Jason wasn't looking to leave Hallmark. Well...again, long story short...after a 3 hour meeting on Sunday, they offered Jason the job on Monday. They offered a competitive salary to Hallmark but get this...no travel, flexible schedule, closer to home, and it's owned by Christians and many of the people we go to church with work there. Needless to say, we accepted the offer Tuesday. Jason gave Hallmark 4 weeks notice and will start with Stallard Technologies INC. on Sept. 2nd. We are so excited for him to be able to have more flexibility with his job given that we are headed into some trying times these next few months with school and work and a kid. We are hoping that maybe I can drop down to one day a week as early as October, which would really help out with my schedule since I'm doing clinicals two days a week and class one day a week. Anyway, we are looking forward to where God is taking us. With more freedom we are able to do more of the things that we want. We can spend more time together as a family without Jason leaving all the time. He said that in the last 10 months he has been gone for 65 days...that includes 4 international trips. It's just ridiculous. So, now he just needs to deal with the backlash at Hallmark. Of course they don't want him to leave. He practically ran the department for 4 months when they didn't have a director, and he was getting pretty involved in some different committees over the last several months. But at the end of the day, he got a lot of experience at Hallmark and what is best for our family comes first...and this is definitely best!!
Other than that...we're great. Allie has been super happy the last couple of days. Her teeth on the bottom are finally poking through so hopefully the crabbiness of the last few weeks is over. She is such a sweet girl. She loves to just spend time with me and always walks up to me and puts her hand on my chin and says "up" if I'm sitting down. She is talking more and more every day and I'm always amazed at the things that come out of her mouth. We are by no means ready to potty train, but she will tell me when she has to go poo poo or if she already did. So, a couple times when she has said poo poo and I know she hasn't gone I say, "do you want to go on the big girl potty?" She gets really excited and runs to the bathroom and says "yeah!" We've sat on it a few times and pulled off way too much toilet paper and wiped ourselves a few too many times, but no success. I'm just hoping that it's a sign that she won't be resistant. I'll probably wait until 2 years old to start. I have a theory that it's pointless to teach a kid to potty train if they can't even pull their own pants down. And, I'm not ready for what it will take on my end. We've definitely got time. Other than that, she's been eating a little better. Still no vegetables, but we've added ham (or heem as she calls it) to our diet and yesterday she ate three links of sausage and a small waffle for breakfast...so we're getting there!!
No pics today. I haven't taken any lately. But all is well on the home front. We're just staying as busy as ever. I'm nervous for this coming year...but I know that we are where God wants us, so that being said, I know He'll provide.
