So, I took a bazillion pictures this weekend so I'm going to publish a couple of different posts so I don't overload you with all of it. First, Debbie and Dana came into town Friday afternoon so Jason and I were able to go out to dinner and do some window shopping. It was too cold to do much, so we just bought Allison a shirt and called it a day! We ate at a Japanese steak house and I think I had more fun than the kids at our table!

Saturday I spent almost the entire day making cupcakes and cake. I know that Allie will never remember it, but I got carried away regardless. It was a little insane as you can tell! But fun nonetheless. Jason's parents were my clean up crew and they ended up doing all my dishes and cleaning...I totally abused their willingness to help, but they seemed glad to do it. Thank goodness for helpful in-laws!

I had cupcakes everywhere. I made 24 chocolate, 24 white, and another whole chocolate cake for Allison. I decorated the chocolate ones like little monkeys and the white ones I just did in pastels. The chocolate cake I did as one big monkey with cupcakes for ears. I thought it was cute...but not as ornate as some cakes I've seen. But, it was all from scratch, including the frosting!

Every counter top was filled. I loved doing this, but like Jason said, it totally consumed me. I tried to say that It didn't matter if they were perfect...but he said I was in denial!

These are the little monkey cupcakes and the big monkey cake with cupcake ears. It tasted sooo good!! Allison didn't get into it too much, but I'll post about that later. You can't really see the pink mouths, but I used pink icing for the mouths on the cupcakes.
Saturday morning Allison opened the gift from Debbie and Dana. It is a big kitchen play set from Fisher-Price. Totally fun! She loves it. I actually don't have a picture of her playing with it, so I'll get one later, but here are some of her opening it...

and trying to help Jason and his dad put it together. I think she had the most fun with that!

"Here grandpa...I'll take that!"

This is a short clip of Allie opening her gift. I will have some more videos later of her eating her cake...well, rather eating her carrot, but I'll explain later!

I love the monkey cake. Very cute. As you know, these little ones grow up despite our wish to hold onto those special moments as long as we can. I enjoy visiting your blog and seeing pictures of Allie. If not for this venue for keeping in touch, we would be seeing each other once a year in spite of our living in the same KC area. Busy times for everyone. Allie is adorable. We need to get Tanyon and Allie together.
Allie doesn't lack for personality - what a fun kid! Glad to hear that the party was fun.
