Christmas part 2 - the game

Christmas night. Put the kids to bed downstairs. Allison got a new sleeping bag and was excited to use it. They watched movies while we played games upstairs. They didn't go to sleep until nearly midnight, and Henry didn't sleep there at all. He came up at midnight and Leah just took him home.

The adults played a game. It was Leah's idea. Here's the premise. Everyone buys 5 items for $1 at Dollar General. These items are total junk (some practical...most funny). They all get wrapped and placed to the side. Each person rolls the dice. If you roll a 1 or 6, you get to pick a package. When all the packages are picked, you set the timer for 15 minutes, and if you roll a 1 or 6, you get to steal packages from other people. The thing is...no one really knows what is in the boxes except for the 5 you wrapped. Pretty great. Hilarity ensued :)

Kara rolling. She had horrible luck starting off, but ended up with some great junk :)

Dad trying to decide what he wants.

Jason ended up with a Star Trek novel. I think it got left at the farm.

My pile of junk.

Except for this...Leah found a super cute pie plate for $1.50. Interestingly enough, Ben and I kept fighting over this one. Only because it was the heaviest and Ben knew she spent an extra 50 cents on it so he figured it must be good. I kept fighting for it simply because he wanted it. So great!

Fun evening!

LOVE this idea for a game. What fun. I think I'll incorporate Leah's game into our family Christmas next year.

It's a blast Aunt Joyce :) Love the posts, cute pictures! Pretty sure 28 candles would look pretty depressing on Matt's cake, I think 3 looks better. Besides, he frequently acts 3, so it works out.... :)
