Appointments

Andrew had his lacrimal stent pulled out this morning at 9:30, then had appointments downtown with GI and allergy this afternoon. It was a busy day!

We learned a lot today. First, every time we want to see if the treatments are working, we'll have to re-biopsy. That could mean as many as once every 12 weeks. It requires full sedation each time. Ick.

Second, we're doing the patch testing to discover food allergies, but it may be even more difficult to eliminate. We have three options. If something shows up, we'll eliminate it. We can do the 6 food elimination diet, or we can put him on a strict formula diet. The latter means we put him on a formula...and that's it. We would then slowly add foods back in and see if he reacts. But here's the problem with that...he never reacted. His only symptom was aspiration. And, according the GI doc today, she's not convinced the aspiration is due to the EE. WHAT?? She said she's never seen an EE kid present with aspiration alone. Consequently, the only way we will know if he reacts to something is to re-biopsy. But surely we can't do that every time we change his diet? This is all so confusing.

This is what my son's back looks like now. He has 21 foods taped to his back, and they have to stay there for 48 hours, with the final reading at 72 hours.

On a happy note, Andrew seems to be eating much better. We haven't done any purees in a few days. He had edamame for dinner tonight. We were so excited!

We have a busy week. I work tomorrow and have a prenatal class afterwards, so late night. Wednesday is more appointments and cooking for church. Thursday - work. Friday morning - work, Saturday morning - work. Jason has meetings or class nearly every night as well. Ugh. But, Saturday evening we get to leave for Colorado for 9 days. SOOO excited!!! Very ready for a break from all of this. Getting a bit weary. But...God is good, and we will be just fine!

His little back looks like some sort of spotted lizard haha. Glad to know he's eating better and I'm SURE that this EE thing will get figured out! God is good. Love you!
