Henry's birthday party - Father's Day

We spent Father's Day on the farm this year. We were supposed to go down on Saturday, but there was a huge storm that blew through on Friday night and caused a lot of damage. My parents didn't have electricity (well, they had a generator for vital things, but not big enough for the AC - it was in the 90s...ugh). We came down Sunday morning, ate lunch, let the kids nap and had the party that evening. I helped Leah with the cake, although she did most everything. Super cute pirate party. She had lots of cool pirate activities for the kids. It turned out great!!

Henry's checking out his pirate cake. He couldn't wait for it to be done. He's six this year!

Eating dinner so they can start their pirate treasure hunt

First clue! At each place was an envelope with another photo in it. They had to run to that place and get their next clue. Jason and I placed them earlier in the day and they were running all over the farm!! I would like to say that my daughter enjoyed it - and later she said she did - but she literally cried or whined the entire time because she either wasn't fast enough, didn't get to open enough envelopes, or didn't know where she was going. It was terribly sad. I hate it when kids get so caught up in something that they just can't enjoy themselves. Later she said it was fun, but you'd never know at the time. The other kids had a blast!!!

And they're off!!

Off to the chicken coop!

Final destination! Tire swing with little bitty treasure chests full of fruit snacks and $1 bills.

Had a small problem earlier in the day. Henry was bouncing a ball and hit his cake. I tried a few times to patch it, but no matter how much icing I used, it just kept splitting. By the time he blew his candles out...it was completely split. Oh well. We just said it was his sunken pirate ship!

Arrgh!!

We didn't leave until 10pm. Which means we don't get home until midnight. It was a great time!
