Why cooking for my family usually ends in headache...

Let's make something very clear. I do like to cook, and not every meal makes a huge mess. But cooking for my family many times causes stress. First, I feel, like many mothers out there, that my meal planning gets stagnant. We have a rotation of things we like to eat, are relatively easy to make, and require inexpensive ingredients. Second, there is limited time for me to cook and clean, so dishes pile up. By the time we're all done eating...this is what you see.

Chicken fajitas with cilantro lime rice and guacamole

fantastic...

nice...

and to top it all off...

So, what ends up happening is that Jason takes the kids to the other room and I spend 20-30 minutes cleaning. But first, of course, I have to unload all the clean dishes out of the dishwasher before I load. And something odd about me...I would rather have a root canal than unload the dishwasher. It's frustrating, because by the time Jason is home, I'm ready to spend time as a family, or have a break myself. Instead, my time to myself is spent in front of the sink!

But...and it's a big but...I love my family and when it comes down to it, I wouldn't change a thing. Well, maybe I would love a couple housekeepers...but, no, I wouldn't change a thing!
They make it so worth it!

I can't figure out what you all are doing wrong. My kitchen never looks like that. Ha!

I've been going around and around trying to figure out a different, more efficient way to do it all. I'll be sure to clue you in if I ever do. So far, no go. Like you said, good thing we love them!
