I mentioned that I'm not one to go crazy at holidays. I'm a very practical gift giver, and could honestly do without all the hoopla surrounding Christmas. Give me some good food and time with family and I can skip the rest. I realize that this makes me a bit of a scrooge (bah humbug!!), but many years I could just do without the stress. We don't go all out on the house, although this year I did more than normal. I strung some lights around our front door, only to have my loving husband tell me it didn't look that good. According to him, when it comes to lights, you either go big, or go home. Oh well, Allie loves it!
We put the tree up last night. I was having a heck of a time with the camera. Because the lights on the tree were on, the camera didn't want to flash, but when it did, it washed out the pictures, so I didn't get very many good ones. Allie likes to help, but honestly, it just starts to get stressful by the end because she is so intent on helping that she is grabbing things like crazy. We have to reign her in!
Allison took this picture of me. She promptly said, "oh mom, that's cute!"
Like every other child her age, she can only reach up so far, and tends to group all the ornaments in one place! I went back later and spread it out!

She really had a good time. This morning she says, "mom, you wanna' go turn the lights on and look at the tree? It's Christmas!"
My pretty girl!
Below is a video of my daughter singing Jingle Bells. She tends to repeat herself, and there are places where she just runs the words together because she's not sure what they are. But I thought she did a pretty good job!
Just for the record, I love the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of our dear Lord and Saviour who came in the form of a humble child to "seek and save the lost." Praise God for His most precious gift to us. If that is all I get out of this season, it will be more than worth it!!

I don't think any of that makes you a scrooge at all. All the hoopla of Christmas can be very distracting. At least for me. Some people can do it all and have the perfect Christmas and still keep Christ at the center but sinners like me never do anything perfectly. Bet your house is more festive looking than mine!
The pics are great and Allie's little voice singing Jingle Bells is adorable.
Great pictures :) While I'm in no way a Scrooge (as you well know) I can understand where you're coming from. Just remember, Christ was born in a SIMPLE manger, in a SIMPLE village, with SIMPLE shepherds present. No fluff, no food to cook, no presents to wrap, not budget to keep. This is the season to be renewed in our knowledge of how salvation came to us. Quiet your heart my love. LOVE YOU!
